Board Members

CCCERA is administered by the Board of Retirement, an independent public entity responsible for general management of the association. With assistance from qualified professionals in the pension industry, the Board adopts regulations, policies and procedures that are relevant to CCCERA, for the purpose of benefiting the members. CCCERA is also governed by the California Constitution and the regulations, procedures and policies adopted by CCCERA’s Board. The Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors may also adopt resolutions which affect member benefits, as permitted by the County Employees’ Retirement Law of 1937 (CERL).

The Board of Retirement is made up of 12 trustees, bound by CERL. Of the 12 members, three are alternates (alternates vote in the absence of specific trustees: one for safety members, one for retirees and one appointed by the Board of Supervisors). Five trustees (including one alternate) are appointed by the County Board of Supervisors; four trustees (including the safety alternate) are elected by CCCERA’s active members. Two trustees (including one alternate) are elected by the retired membership. The County Treasurer serves as an ex-officio member. Board members serve three year terms, with the exception of the County Treasurer, who serves during his tenure in office.
